Literature Text

My eyes burn at the thought of the chewed-up bitterness in your spine

And the clenched fists that clawed away at your heart.

There was a time when you loved the sun and woke in its rising flame

Whispering secret longings to the wind

Laughing in the sweet release of spinning life.

And now? Oh now I am afraid no one can help you

But I will ask every star I meet, just in case.
Who are you--
--today?
