Literature Text

I think of you and the stars drop from the sky:
The world stops spinning--
Nothing is left but you and I.

There was a garden, in the beginning
When the world was round and the sun was gold.
When love was first made it was meant to grow old
But a chunk of poison lodged in my throat.

I fell asleep and I fell to the ground
I was trapped in a dream but then I was found
And vigorously kissed--I remember this--
I woke in your arms adrift in a boat.

In another life, in a world less cold,
I could have been a butterfly
And flown to dreams that I've never seen
We could have been monarchs, king and queen.

Yes, here is love, but I do not know
If it will melt with the springtime snow
If it will fall with the stars from the sky
But at least for now it's just you and I.
You are everything
And I am nothing
So between us two
There must be something
