Literature Text

Twin coins, double-headed
Fell into a brook:
One was gold, the other leaded--
Guess which wish the waters took.

In haunted wind the branches shook
A nymph enclosed in fairy tree,
Just wood and leaf at first look
In hollowed rings no one could see--

A soul was trapped upon a bough
Beyond the current's reach.
The winded gods would not allow
A plaintive prayer to beseech.

Two coins, yet neither true
Fell into a brook
Thus both were drowned in buried blue,
Heartless dreams that no one took.
I'm just guessing at the meaning of this...I think that it's about someone torn between two lovers, one true and one false...Waiting too long to decide, both are lost.

(I'm sorry, sometimes words pop into my head and even I'm not sure what they mean.)

Love the interplay here with the italicized stanzas and the first and last stanzas. Well done. =)
